About us

We at Dream Dragon aim to create shirts that are inspired by the colourful fashions of the late 1960s, using sustainable fabrics where possible. Clothing is considered to be 'sustainable' and 'ethical' if it is produced in a way that is respectful of people and the planet, and we have kept this in mind throughout the manufacturing process, including ensuring our packaging materials are completely recyclable.

Block Printing

A lot of our shirts are made from cotton fabrics sourced from India. Block printing is a centuries old art form popular in India and many other East Asian countries. In India, this ancient printing technique utilizes a hand-carved teak wood block that is dipped in organic vegetable dye and stamped by hand onto cotton or silk.

Block printing in Bagru

The fabric from our block printed shirts primarily comes from Bagru, a small village in Rajastan, India. Bagru is known in India for its block prints and the craftsmanship is considered unparalleled. The prints have transformed the village into a vibrant crafts centre.

Block printing is considered to be very eco friendly due to the zero carbon emission of the printing process, and with every garment you know you have given work to people who may otherwise have struggled to earn a living.

William Morris Reclaimed Vintage

The designs of William Morris became very popular with the fashionistas and musicians of the late 1960s. Originally intended to cover our homes as wallpaper, Morris' patterns soon became just as popular when used for jackets and shirts, successfully integrating Art Nouveau aesthetics with the Psychedelic look. Some examples of these creations can be found on our Inspiration page.

Our William Morris shirts are made from rare, reclaimed vintage fabrics, continuing our aim of keeping things as sustainable and ethical as possible. They are primarily sourced from vintage markets and we are always on the lookout for new Morris patterns to add to our collection.
